Perth Sports Medicine

Our doctors have toured internationally with Australian National Cricket teams and have worked as both the Australian U/19 Cricket Team Doctor and the Women’s Big Bash Hub Doctor.

Our doctors have provided medical support for the Australian Dolphins National Swimming team and have been chief medical officers for international swimming events such as the BHP billiton International Series. Our doctors have been medical officers at the Rottnest Channel Swim and other open water swimming events. Our doctors have personally achieved a solo crossing of the Rottnest Channel, held the mixed Duo Channel Swim record and competed in the inaugural elite “Champions of the Channel” event.

Our doctors have provided medical services to World Junior Surf Title events and have extensive personal experience with both recreational and competition surfing. Three of our doctors are current, active, competitive members of local Surf Lifesaving Clubs including board and surf-ski paddlers. Dr Taylor is an elite kite-foil racer currently aspiring to compete at the Paris Olympics.

We have the current chief medical officer of Perth’s only elite international tennis event: The Hopman Cup

Our staff includes the current Chief Medical Officer of the West Coast Fever who has been in that position now for 6 years and has also provided medical services to the Australian Diamonds and New Zealand Silver Ferns. We are proud to also offer medical services to the Western Sting and West Coast Fever Training Partners.

Our doctors have many years’ experience in basketball including being the Chief Medical Officers for the Perth Wildcats for many successful years and the Perth Lynx. We have also toured internationally as the tour doctor for the Australian Boomers

Our doctors are the current preferred medical providers of The West Australain Ballet Company and see many professional dancers and dance students referred to us by the specialist dance physiotherapists that we work closely with.

Our doctors have provided medical services to visiting athletes and performers including multiple Cirque de Soleil tours. We see many WA competitive gymnasts since the end of the WAIS supported gymnastic program. We see a variety of athletes in this field from gymnasts to cheerleaders, contortionists and calisthenics.

Our doctors include some very keen runners. Two of them have run a sub 2:50 marathon and they have won races in the Perth Trail series and hold the course record in the Rottnest SwimRun event. They have provided medical coverage at a wide variety of running and athletics events and understand the different demands of different distances, terrains, throwing and jumping athletes.

Our two practice owners first met during a multi-day multisport endurance race! They have been the medical directors for the Cape to Cape Mountain Bike race, international and local triathlons, Ironman Events and the Rottnest Channel Swim just to name a few.

Many of our doctors are keen and competitive cyclists. We have been the medical director for the Cape to Cape Mountain Bike race and event doctors for the Perth Velofest, the Leinster Loop Cycle Sportive in Ireland and the Revolution Track Cycling series in Melbourne. We also have a couple of strava KOMs between us (does that count for anything?? )

Our doctors were the event medical officers at the Beijing Olympic trials for the Australian Weight lifting Team. We understand the unique demands of power athletes and have worked closely with Olympic and power lifters.

Our doctors have been the Chief Medical Director for the World Long Course ITU Triathlon. We have close connections to many of the local clubs and coaches in WA. We have also been event doctors at countless local races and multiple ironman and half ironman events. One of our doctors has even had numerous age group wins and podiums across Ironman and 70.3 distances and has even raced at the coveted Hawaii Ironman World Championships where he respectably finished in under 10hrs.

Many of our doctors are keen and competitive cyclists. Our doctors have extensive experience in Rugby. Three of our doctors have been the Chief Medical Officer at the Western Force and Rugby WA at various times (including currently). They have also been the medical officers for the Perth Spirit, UWA Rugby Union Club and visiting international teams including Fiji, Japan and the Asia Pacific Dragons.

Perth Sports Medicine currently provides medical services to the Fremantle Dockers in the AFL as well as both the West Coast Eagles and Fremantle Dockers Women’s teams in the AFLW. Together our doctors have over 15 years of experience as the head doctor for various WAFL teams. Our doctors have also held AFL medical scholarships, have worked with the West Coast Eagles AFL side and have been the doctor for both WA and Tasmania U/18 and U/16 state teams.

Our doctors have travelled internationally with the both the Joeys (Australian underage National Boys Team) and the Young Matildas (Australian underage National Girls Team). They have worked closely with the Perth Glory and have been the team doctor for UCD Dublin in the Irish Premier League.

Our doctors have toured with the Kookaburras (Australian Men’s Hockey Team) on multiple successful Champion’s Trophy Tours and Aslan Shah tournaments.
